Karate & Self-Defense in Berkeley

Come study martial arts at the Tuyê’t Tan Dojo in Berkeley, and get a good workout while having fun in a safe environment! We’re not a large commercial school — classes are taught by experienced black belts who take pride in the quality of training and the personalized attention given to our students. The senior instructors have been teaching martial artists for over 20 years.

Our style is Cuong Nhu, which means "hard/soft" and is a blend of Shotokan Karate, Wing Chun, Vovinam, Aikido, Judo, Taiji, and boxing. We practice forms, basic techniques and self-defense, grapple, spar, break boards, and train with various weapons. Cuong Nhu is a discipline of the body, mind, and spirit
